Do you consult grey literature when researching?

The term grey literature refers to research that is either unpublished or has been published in non-commercial form. Examples of grey literature include:

  • guidelines
  • clinical trials
  • government reports
  • policy statements and issues papers
  • conference proceedings
  • theses and dissertations
  • research reports

Grey literature balances publication bias, reveals prepublication data and emerging theories, and provides a more comprehensive picture.

EKS offers the Grey Literature Gateway where you can search many grey literature websites simultaneously by publication type.
